Indexable Hogger Saws

View in Shop

Our indexable hogger saws are used primarily in the pallet manufacturer and saw mill industries. They are typically positioned on the same arbor as the circular saw blades on gangsaws to size the edge or height of a cant before entering the resaw. The hogger saws are ideal when an edger or hogger blade is required for removing 1/2″ material or more. We have a variety of carbide grades we can insert in this saw to cut various types of wood:

Our indexable hogger saws can be configured with two different gullet designs for different cutting applications. The hogger saws can be mounted horizontally, vertically, on a arbor or mounted to a hub for maximum flexibility. A step gauge is provided to set the side clearance of your reversible carbide inserts to the same cutting heights. Setting these dimensions to cut at the same height ensures maximum cutting life between maintenance cycles.

Unlike brazed hogger saws, our indexable hogger saws allow you to rotate the reversible carbide inserts while the cutter body remains on the shaft. This saves you time from having to remove the entire body from the machine for service.

Our indexable hogger saws are available in various configurations to cater to our customer’s dynamic machine requirements:

  • Outer diameter: 8″ – 14″
  • Depth of cut: 1/2″-1″
  • Width of cut: up to 6″
  • Inner diameter: 5/8″ – 4 1/4″
  • Indexable carbide inserts (reversible)
  • Keyed or mounting hub
  • 4 – 24 Wing configurations

All carbide inserts can be sharpened or replaced at our in-house service center. Inserts sent in for service go through an incoming quality check to determine if they can be resharpened. If they have been reground multiple times and become too small or become excessively chipped they will be replaced.
