Our indexable 1/2″ radius notching heads are used as the primary cutting tool on single and double-head notching machines to machine 4-way entry notches for new and recycled pallet manufacturing. We have a variety of carbide-grade notcher inserts for this head to cut various wood types:
- Green and kiln-dried virgin lumber
- Knotty pine or frozen lumber
- Wood with some nails (Nailbuster® technology)
- Wood with lots of nails (Nailbuster® NX technology)
The 1/2″ radius notching heads feature solid plate design for maximum durability with an optional split plate for quick changeover when cutting variable-width notches. Each plate is keyed and indexed according to the appropriate serialized plate number for a 9″ wide notch. The inside plates are numbered one through fourteen and are stacked in sequential order for easy installation. The outside plates are labeled with both the serial number, followed by a letter A or B to indicate left or right-handed cutters, which you can provide to us when you order so that we can identify your head and what parts you may need.
Because our indexable 1/2″ radius notching heads are not bolted together, this allows for the least amount of downtime when replacing damaged or worn-out plates within your assembly.
We offer various configurations in our indexable 1/2″ radius notching heads to cater to our customers dynamic machine requirements:
- Outer diameter: 9″ to 14″
- Cut width: 2″ to 12″
- Inner diameter: 1″ to 3.5″
- Radius: 1/2″ corners (1″ diameter)
- Indexable carbide notching inserts (reversible)
- Keyway: 1/4 “, 3/8″, 1/2”
If you require a larger specialty corner radius, we offer indexable head options in 3/4″, 1″ and 1 1/2″ sizes.
All carbide notcher inserts can be sharpened or replaced at our in-house service center. Inserts sent in for service go through an incoming quality check to determine if they can be resharpened. If they have been reground multiple times and become too small or become excessively chipped they will be replaced.
